Mesa's strong first half not enough as Cochise drops Mesa Wednesday.

Men's Basketball dropped their fourth game in a row at the hands of Cochise College Wednesday night. The Thunderbirds fell, 86-68 bringing their overal record to 6-11 and their conference record to 2-8.

Mesa was able to keep the contest close in the first half, even taking a 37-35 lead into the halftime locker room. In the scorned half however, the Apaches outscored the Thunderbirds 51-31 and were able to cruise to victory late. 

Cochise was able to shoot dramatically better from behind three-point land in the second half as they improved from just 16% in the opening half, to 50% in the final period. The Thunderbirds were not falling from the floor in the second half as their percentage fell from 53% to 40%.

Mesa was led in scoring by Tampa Scott with 18, followed by Timmy Johnson with 16. Cochise had six players score in double figures including all starters. They were led in scoring by Tyrese Watso who had 25 in the win.

The T-Birds will be back in action Saturday afternoon as they will welcome Scottsdale to Theo Heap Gymnasium.
