Men's basketball snaps losing skid as they beat Eastern Arizona.

The men's basketball team snapped a six game losing streak Wednesday night as they defeated Eastern Arizona College, 88-72. 

With the win the Thunderbirds have topped their win total from last season as they improve to 6-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play. 

Mesa came out with intensity to start the game as they began the game on an 11-2 run and didn't look back as they led by as many as 27 at one point in the game.

Orlando Gonzales led the way for MCC as he netted a career high, 22 points. Nicholas RIley made a big impact after missing the last few games as he had 14 points, 11 rebounds, and seven blocks. Lual Lual nearly earned a double-double as he grabbed nine rebounds to go along with 17 points. While Tampa Scott dished out eight assists while scoring 13 points.

For Eastern Arizona, Akok Machar led the way with 21 points. Theo Seng grabbed nine rebounds while adding 10 points in the loss.

The Gila Monsters shot 32.4% from the field and 39.1% from behind the three point stripe.

The Thunderbirds shot 52.7% from the field and 47.1% from deep. MCC also had a season high 15 blocks in the win.

Mesa will host Pima on Saturday, tip-off at 2 p.m.
