Former T-Bird T.J. Benson joins basketball staff at Arizona

  Former Mesa men's basketball star T.J. Benson is now a member of the coaching staff at the University of Arizona.

  He will serve as a special assistant to new head coach Tommy Lloyd as well as recruiting coordinator.

  Benson, who played for the T-Birds in the mid-2000s before transferring to Weber State, was most recently part of the staff at Gonzaga, which reached the NCAA national championship game this year. He also played at Grand Canyon.
