Former T-Bird Adonis Arms headed to Texas Tech

Adonis Arms, a former second team all-Region I selection at MCC in men's basketball, will be playing in the Big 12 next year after transferring to Texas Tech.

Arms played at Mesa from 2016-18, averaging 12.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He then moved on to Northwest Nazarene for one season where he averaged 20.6 points and was named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year

Given an opportunity to join an NCAA Division I program, he switched to Winthrop where he helped lead the Eagles to a Cinderella season with a 23-1 record entering NCAA championship play. As a No. 12 seed the Eagles faced the daunting task of taking on perennial nation power Villanova. Trailing by just one point at halftime, Winthrop eventually fell, 73-63.

Arms was the second leading scorer in that game with ten points. He was the Eagles' second leading scorer for the season with a 10.5 average despite never starting a single game all year.

In Texas Tech Arms will be joining a team in one of the strongest conferences in the nation, the Big 12. The Red Raiders were an NCAA No. 6 seed, winning over Utah State in the first round before falling to third-seeded Arkansas by two points.
