Five Mesa Baseball T-Birds earn postseason honors

Five T-Birds of the Mesa Baseball team earned postseason awards as their season came to a close. 

Pitcher Eric Nachtsheim earned All-Conference & All-Region 1st Team honors. Nachtsheim appeared in 16 games on the season with a 6-3 win/loss record. In 71.2 innings pitched Nachtsheim struck out 83 batters (3rd best in conference) while maintaining a 2.64 ERA (5th best in conference).

Pitcher Christian Woodward also earned All-Conference & All-Region 1st Team honors. Woodward led the conference in saves with nine. In Woodward's 20 appearances he earned a 3-0 win/loss record while striking out 49 batters in his 33 innings pitched while maintaining 1.36 ERA.

Shortstop Josh Degroot earned All-Region 2nd Team honors after maintaining a .321 batting average this season. In 168 at bats Degroot had 54 hits with 12 doubles, three triples, & one homerun while knocking in 41 runs.

Second Baseman Jayden Israel earned All-Region 2nd Team honors for his outstanding offensive and defensive season. Israel made only three errors during the season which was drastically improved from last season when he committed 12.

From the plate Israel had 53 hits, knocked in 19 runs, drew 28 walks & maintained a .319 batting average.

First Baseman/Catcher Michael Williamson made the All-Region 2nd Team. In 151 at-bats Williamson had 41 hits, eight doubles, while driving in 22 runs and maintaining a .272 batting average.
