Mesa, AZ - The Thunderbirds baseball team opened up the week with wins over the Grand Canyon Univ. Club team and the Benedictine Univ. JV team.
Despite the wet and windy conditions on both Tuesday and Wednesday, the T-Birds had an impressive showing in both games.
Game 1 - GCU Club
Aiden Jackson and Jayden Israel both lead the team in runs with two apiece, while Israel and Agustin Fernandez each had two hits. Mesa outscored GCU, 6-1, in the first four innings as they held on for a 9-4 victory. James Hubbard allowed only one run in four innings pitched.
Game 2 - Ben. Univ. JV
Five T-Birds scored two runs and three had at least two hits. Jaxon Brooks had an excellent game, having two runs, three hits, and five RBIs. Mesa coasted to a 19-2 victory over the Redhawks. Kindrick Tipping earned the win in his first start of the season.
The T-Birds (11-6 overall, 1-5 ACCAC) will play at Gateway CC on Friday (3:00 PM) and will host the Geckos on Saturday (12:00 PM).
