One Run Victories for #2 Mesa Baseball Saturday Afternoon vs PC Bears in Double-Header, 11-10, 6-5 Wins

Mesa, AZ - What a day of baseball for the #2 Mesa Thunderbirds as they defeated the Phoenix College Bears in a double-header Saturday afternoon, 11-10 (7) and 6-5.

Down by large margins in game one twice, first at 5-0 then eventually 10-3, the T-Birds rallied back, using a big five run sixth inning to push forward to victory.  In the bottom of the seventh, tied at 10 and with the bases loaded, Zach Wagner stepped to the plate and drew a walk, allowing Kaedan Camat-Toki to score, Wagners fourth RBI of the game.

In game two, the T-Birds used an explosive third inning to propell them to victory. Beginning with five straight base hits, three of which went for extra bases, Mesa scored four runs in the inning, tying the game at that point.  Mesa pushed across one more run in the fourth and another run in the fifth inning to finalize its six runs.

Winning game one on the mound for Mesa was Tyler Knight, who pitched the final two innings for Mesa.  In game two, solid pitching performances from Richard Hudson as starter and Brendan Thome as reliever steadied the T-Birds to victory.  Thome recorded the victory in game two.

On the day, Zach Wagner finished 4-7 with five RBI's, one run scored, a double with two walks while Cade Malone went 4-6 with three RBI's, one run scored, 1 triple and three walks.  Josh Leslie finished 4-9 with two RBI's and four runs scored with Connor Culp finishing 4-8 with three RBI's  and three runs scored.

Mesa pushes its record to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.  The T-Birds will be back in action next Tuesday afternoon with a double-header against the Glendale Gauchos at home with a two-games down in Tucson against the Pima Aztecs on Saturday afternoon.
