Mesa, AZ - The #2 Gateway Geckos have tied the Region I / ACCAC DII championship series with a 10-7 victory Friday afternoon at MCC.
The Geckos used a big four run second inning to get things going and although the T-Birds put together a few rallies throughout the game, Gateway just stayed one step ahead.
Demetrio Botello started his first game of the playoffs for Mesa and went 2-4 with a triple and three RBI's while Luke Patty went 3-5 on the afternoon with one run scored.
The third and decisive game three will be played on Saturday afternoon at MCC beginning at noon. The winner will advance to the NJCAA National Championship tournament in Enid, OK and the loser will be eliminated.
