Mesa, AZ - The #7 Mesa Thunderbirds split a double-header with the Cochise Apaches Saturday afternoon, 1-0 Mesa victory in game one and 7-2 loss in game two.
Story of the day was game one starting pitcher Cody Tucker, who didn't allow any runs in seven innings, gave up three hits and struck out eight batters. Tucker needed just the one run Mesa scored in the game, a run scored by Brian So, who singled to get on base. He was later knocked in by Ben Ferguson.
Mesa moves to 27-12 overall on the season and 11-11 in conference play. Mesa will play at Eastern Arizona College on Tuesday for another double-header, beginning at noon.
