Thunderbird Theme of the Week...Featuring Vin Scully
Monday July 14, 2024 - 6:00 a.m. | Dylan DeVlieger
The late great Vin Scully was the iconic voice of the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers for over 65 years. Scully was an instrumental figure in the Dodgers organization for countless years, he even became the first non-player or manager to be inducted into the Dodger Stadium Ring of Honor.
In addition to his place in history at Dodger Stadium, Scully also earned the nod into many Hall of Fames including the National Radio HOF, the American Sportscasters Association HOF, the California Sports HOF, & the NAB Broadcasting HOF.
With how easy it is to watch each and every sports contest in our extremely advanced world today, listening to a game on the radio is a tremendously underappreciated activity. Scully just like many other sports broadcasters paint a picture of the sports they cover and no matter how big or small the audience, the broadcaster has the ability to captivate those listeners into a magical world that can help them fall in love with the game.
