Rashad Armstrong

Rashad Armstrong brought his football skills to MCC in 2000 and 2001. In his sophomore year as a Thunderbird, he was named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Offensive Player of the Year, and NJCAA All-American. Over the 10 game 2001 season, he scored 16 touchdowns and gained 1,373 yards on 221 carries, breaking the college’s 31-year rushing record and placing him third in the nation in rushing yardage. He was a First Team All-Western States Football League selection.

After graduating from MCC and considering offers from Ohio State, Auburn, Oregon, University of Southern California, Clemson, Oklahoma and Florida, Rashad accepted Baylor University’s offer in Texas. As a junior Bear, he gained 674 yards with four touchdowns. In his senior season, he accumulated 1,074 yards with six more scores. His yardage total is still No.10 in Baylor history. His performance earned him Third Team All-Southwest Conference honors. His career total of 1,721 yards is still 15th all-time for the Bears.

Rashad was the MCC running back coach 2005-2007. He began working in the behavioral health field with middle school students. He and his wife have been foster parents to many children and have adopted kids. He currently works as a behavioral health specialist at Behavioral Health Hospital.
