Hakeem Rollins

A 2001 Mesa High School grad, Hakeem Rollins turned down an academic scholarship to the University of Arizona to play MCC basketball. He was an outstanding power forward for the 2002/2003 basketball seasons, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Region, received an honorable mention as an All-American, and came in second place in conference voting for Player of the Year. Hakeem led the conference in blocked shots, led the team in scoring and was second in rebounding. He was named one of the National Junior College Athletic Association’s top three power forwards.

An honor student, Hakeem accepted a full athletic scholarship to the University of Washington. UW Coach Lorenzo Romar credited Hakeem as a major factor in Washington winning its first game in the 2005 National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament. After earning a bachelor’s in biochemistry, he played ten seasons of international professional basketball and then earned a Master of Business Administration specializing in sports marketing from the University of Oregon.
