Women's cross country signs all-state runner Niki Hemmerlin

  Mesa, AZ – Red Mountain High School all-state runner Niki Hemmerlin will be joining the Mesa women's cross country team in the fall of 2020 after signing with the T-Birds Wednesday.

  Said MCC head cross country coach Daniel Pescador, "We're very excited to welcome Niki to the program. She is such an accomplished runner and it is an honor to have on the team. She has consistently been one of the premier runners in the state across all distances from 800m all the way up to the 5k. Niki has the ability and drive to be one of the best runners in the nation, and elevate the Mesa program to a new level of success.  Welcome aboard Niki!"

  Hemmerlin has been a multiple-time all-state runner. According to Pescador, she was the driving force in helping the Lions become a top state contender.

  She will join an MCC team that finished ninth in the nation at the NJCAA Division I national championship last fall for the second straight year.
