MCC Indoor Volleyball fell to South Mountain CC on Friday, 3-2.

Set One:

The Lady T-Birds got down early as they trailed 12-8 before they were able to fight back and cut the lead to just a single point (18-17). However from then on SMCC would outscore MCC, 7-2 to secure the victory in set one.

Set Two:

The second set was extremely competitive between the teams, as both squads traded blows for the majority of the set. SMCC took a 21-22 lead and appeared to have the momentum to take a consecutive set until MCC went on a 3-0 scoring run to steal set two and tie the match 1-1.

Set Three:

The third set mainly belonged to SMCC as they would mount a 19-11 lead. The Lady T-Birds would not go down without a fight however, as they would create havoc and cut the lead to just 4 (20-16) before the Cougars would go on a run and take the third set, 25-22.

Set Four:

Early in the fourth set it seemed as though SMCC controlled all momentum and would glide to victory as they held an 8-2 lead early on. Just like in the third set MCC would not go down so easily as they would tie the game at nine a piece, and would go on one of their best runs of the season scoring 11 straight points and taking a 22-11 lead. Mesa would win the set 25-15 and tie the match at 2-2.

Set Five:

In the deciding fifth set MCC again got down early as they trailed 3-0, but just like in the earlier sets the Lady T-Birds would fight back and would take an 11-9 advantage. SMCC would turn momentum in their favor however as they would outscore the Lady T-Birds 6-4 to take the set and the match.

With the loss MCC's overall record drops to 6-8 (3-3 ACCAC). The Lady T-Birds will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to take on Glendale CC.
