The MCC Indoor Volleyball team won a highly competitive match against ACCAC rival Chandler-Gilbert CC on Wednesday night, 3-2.

Set 1:

The Lady T-Birds came out a bit stagnant in the first set against the Coyotes, falling behind 4-1 leading to coach Herrington calling a timeout to rally her squad. Coming out of the break MCC composed themselves and battled to take a 14-10 lead. However, the Coyotes would swing momentum back in their favor and take an 18-15 lead which they would ride to a 20-25 victory for CGCC.

Set 2:

After losing the first set the Lady T-Birds went down early again in set 2, trailing 2-6 before battling back to tie the set at 6-6. From then on the Lady T-Birds dominated the set, rallying to take a 13-8 lead and then extending it 22-9 before taking the set 25-10.

Set 3:

The third set went in the direction of CGCC as they took a 15-6 lead. The Lady T-Birds made mini runs but were unable to climb out of the hole they dug as they lost, 25-16.

Set 4:

The fourth set was a back and forth barn burner between the two teams. MCC jumped out early with a 8-4 lead but CGCC delivered key blows to take a 17-15 lead. MCC would then make a stand that would help them win the set as they took a 22-19 advantage but would then lose the momentum letting the Coyotes tie the game 22-22. MCC would go on to 3-1 rally as they took the set 23-25.

Set 5:

In the deciding set MCC came out on fire from the jump, taking a 5-1 lead and extending it 10-5. But a CGCC rally brought the score to 10-9 and after a timeout MCC took a 13-10 lead before eventually taking the set and the match, 15-11.

With the win MCC has won four in a row and improves to 4-1 (2-1 ACCAC) on the season. They will be back in action against Park University Gilbert JV at home beginning at 7:00 P.M.
