The MCC Women's Volleyball team lost their regular season opener to Arizona Western on Wednesday night, 3-1. With the loss the team's record falls to 0-1 (0-1 ACCAC).

 Set One:

The opening set was a dog fight between both teams as the scoring went back and forth and was knotted at 19 apiece. AZW then would swing momentum in their favor as they took a 21-19 lead and would seal a victory 23-25.

 Set Two:

MCC came out swinging to kick off their second set, jumping out to a 13-6 lead it seemed as they had turned the tide in a big way. AZW did make multiple pushes and even cut the deficit to just 4 (18-14). The Lady T-Birds then propelled themselves to a win, 25-18 behind timely blocks from freshman Brynlee Barris.

 Set Three:

Just like the set that opened up the match, set three was a back and forth battle. In the end AZW was able to take a 21-17 lead which they were able to capitalize on as they won the set, 25-20.

 Set Four:

In the closing set AWC dominated from the jump as they bulked up to a 11-3 lead and never looked back. MCC was able to put a few points together in a row but it wasn't enough as AWC won the set, 25-11.

The Lady T-Birds will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Williston State College and South Mountain CC (these events will be held at South Mountain Community College). The team will be back home on Wednesday Aug. 30 as they take on No. 13 Chandler-Gilbert.
