Mesa, Ariz. - The Thunderbirds volleyball team couldn't close it out against South Mountain, losing 3-1.
The T-Birds had a strong first set with a 25-13 win. But the Cougars won three straight sets by four points or less.
Mesa had a late lead in each of the final three sets but they weren't able to finish the deal as they lost 23-25, 29-31, and 21-25.
The T-Birds are now 2-5 overall and 2-4 in conference play this season.
Up next is another non-conference matchup against Eastern Arizona in Thatcher this Friday at 7:00 pm.
