Mesa Track & Field soars in day one of the NJCAA Region I Multis

Mesa Track & Field competed in day one of the NJCAA Region I Multis on Monday.

Maliyah Ross competed in the Women's Heptathlon where she currently sits in third place with 2593 points. Aliyah Gidharry from Central Arizona is in first with 2947 points.

Ross won the shot put event with an 11m toss but came in 4th or lower in the other three events on the day.

Bradley Runge and Myles Larsen competed in the Men's Decathlon and are each top three after day one. Going into the final day Runge (3476) is in second while Larsen (3386) is in third. Broden Cahoon of Pima (3597) is in first place. 

Larsen won and set a PR in the long jump (6.72m) while also setting a PR in the 100m (11.29).

Runge won the shot put event (11.66m) , and the high jump (1.81m) while coming in second in the 100m (11.06).

In the women's 10000m Anna Harmon (40:30.45) finished first while Carmella Baldwin (42:02.59) finished second respectively. 

In the men's 10000m Mesa had four competitors as Wyatt Williams (33:27.03) finished fourth, Joshua Lumpkin (36:16.06) came in eight, Kai Robinson (38:17.43) finished 11th, and Steven Saurini (38:17.85) came in 12th. 

Competition resumes on Tuesday with events beginning at 3:00 p.m.
