New Orleans, LA - The Thunderbirds men's and women's cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field teams finished ninth and third overall in the USTFCCCA NJCAA Program of the Year for the 2022-23 academic year.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the final update to the rankings on June 8th.

The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year (spanning the cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field seasons) based on the institution's finish at the NJCAA Championships.

In order to be eligible for the award, teams must qualify for each of the NJCAA Championships. Scoring is based on the team's finish at each NJCAA Championship in cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field (i.e. 1st = 1 point, 2nd = 2 points … 31st = 31 points) with the lowest total score for all three championships combined determining the award winner. Ties among schools split points for positions taken.

The lady T-Birds scored 18 points (2nd place - cross country; 9th place - indoor track & field; 7th place - outdoor track & field) to finish in third.

The men scored 35.5 points (4th place - cross country; 18th place - indoor track & field; tied for 12th place - outdoor track & field) to finish in ninth.

Both programs were the highest-ranked teams in the ACCAC/Region I. Click on the link below to view the complete rankings.
