Women's TF Closes Outdoor Regular Season at Canyon Invite

Phoenix, AZ - The Thunderbirds women's track & field team closed out the outdoor regular season at the Canyon Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Madison Hernandez threw a massive personal best in the hammer throw and hit an outdoor nationals qualifying mark of 45.01m.

Katherine Lemish (14.25 seconds) and Mia Sirimarco (15.00 seconds) both ran huge PBs in the 100m hurdles.

Taylor Jacobs just barely missed her own PB and the school record in the 800m run after she ran a time of 2:13.66. Kate Brockman ran a PB time of 2:18.54.

The 4x100m relay ran a season-best time of 47.17 seconds and finished in third place. The 4x400m relay was first with a time of 3:54.36.

Zaria Hamilton (57.45 seconds) and Diane Ondobo (57.54 seconds) went 2-3 in the 400m dash.

Zana Ryan ran PB times in both the 100m dash (12.05 seconds) and the 200m dash (24.75 seconds), but just missed the qualifying standards in both events. Zamirah Parker jumped a PB mark of 5.26m in the long jump.

Up next, the lady T-Birds will compete in the NJCAA Region I Championships. The decathlon and heptathlon will take place on Monday, April 24th, and Tuesday the 25th. The remaining events will be on May 2nd and May 4th. Mesa's home track, John D. Riggs Stadium, will host the championship meet.
