Mesa Tennis completes season series sweep over Glendale on Thursday

Mesa Tennis picked up two more conference wins on Thursday as both the men and women defeated Glendale, 9-0.

Head coach Feroz Rast was pleased with the way his team kept their focus against a team they had dominated thus far this year.

 "It was great to get a program sweep on the road. Very proud of the players and their focus today. They were purposeful and determined to play their best," said Rast, "complete team win and a great way to send us into a tough matchup against a very strong NAIA Ottawa University on Saturday. "

 Both the men and women will host Ottawa University on Saturday in non-conference action starting at 10:00 a.m.

 Women:

The No. 24 Lady T-Birds completed the season sweep of the Gauchos in dominating fashion as they earned a victory over their ACCAC foe for the third time this season. With the win Mesa improved their record to 5-4 (5-0 ACCAC).

In doubles competition No. 1 pair Mikaela Correa and Taylor Wasson took down their competition 8-1 while No. 2 pair Sienna Buttafuoco and Lynn Angulo won 8-2.

In singles competition Mesa dominated, as in No. 1, 3, and 4 competition the T-Birds each won their match 6-0, 6-0. 

The Lady T-Birds have now won three straight matches and are still undefeated in conference play.

Men:

The Thunderbirds got back to their winning ways as they took down the Gauchos for the third time this season completing the season series sweep of their ACCAC counterpart. Prior to their win on Thursday Mesa had won just two of their last five matches (both against Glendale) as their overall record now sits at 3-3 (3-2 ACCAC).

In doubles play No. 1 pair Niko Romero and Carson Abril won the only match of the day for the men, 8-5

In singles competition No. 1 Carson Abril and No. 3 Enrique Urquidi each won 6-1, 6-0 while in No. 2 competition Brady Miller won 6-0, 6-1.
