Tough day for women's tennis at NJCAA nationals
Tucson, AZ – It was a tough day for Mesa women's tennis at the NJCAA Division I National Championship as all players still alive in the championship bracket lost their matches.
Said coach Feroz Rast, "Tough second day for the T-Birds as we lost all matches played. Freshman Alethea LaCroix gave it a big fight losing 6-4, 6-3 to St. Petersburg College. "The T-Birds look to rebound on Monday as we have two singles and two doubles teams still left in the consolation draw. The T-Birds are currently tied for 18th place."

Singles
No. 1 – Brianna Clayton loses to Italia Jones (Wallace St.), 8-1
No. 2 – Kendra Farrell – Bye to quarter-finals
No. 3 – Zari Williams loses to Sarah Powell (Jones CC), 8-2
No. 4 – Alethea LaCroix loses to (4) Georgia Lilly Lynne-Browne (St. Petersburg), 6-3, 6-3
No. 5 – Brenna Wallen lost to (8) Tiffany Beukes, 6-0, 6-3
No. 6 – Kylie Williams bye to quarter-finals, will play Ashleigh Chelette (Miss. Gulf Coast)
Doubles
No. 1 – Brianna Clayton – Zari Williams – Bye to quarter-finals will play Chiara Fiorenza – Emma Semary (Iowa Central)
No. 2 – Brenna Wallen– Kendra Farrell – Bye to quarter-finals will play Savannah Sousa – Azelia Lara (Paradise Vallley)
