Women's tennis signs two for 2021-22 season

Mesa head tennis coach Feroz Rast is excited to announce signings of Brianna Clayton and Brenna Wallen. Both Brianna and Brenna are current seniors in high school and will be starting at Mesa in August 2021.

Brianna Clayton comes to Mesa from Basha High School. She is a four year varsity player for the highly-ranked Basha Bears.

According to Rast, "She has continued to improve each year and will be competing for the top of the lineup this season. She has an all-around game with a great tennis IQ and is very coach-=able. She is a hard worker and can take on any challenges."

Although her junior year was cut short due to COVID-19 she had an impressive sophomore year on varsity. She finished her sophomore year with a 13-11 overall record.

Brenna Wallen comes to Mesa from Desert Vista High School. She has been on varsity since her freshman year and has helped her team compete for the state tournament every year.

Says Rast, "She comes in with a great baseline game and a powerful forehand and backhand. She is aggressive at the right times and can take over points with her big forehand. Brenna has great work ethic and drive and is a problem solver on the court.

Rast commented on the new additions, "I am beyond excited to add Brianna and Brenna to our team for next season. Both come from very competitive high school programs and each have four years of varsity experience. Desert Vista and Basha are part of the two toughest regions in the state and I know that Brianna and Brenna are battled tested and ready for college tennis. I know they are coming from very well coached programs and look for them to help us on Day 1. Beyond their skill level they also bring great work ethic and both are excited for the challenge of college tennis. I know they will help us compete for another ACCAC title. We have more recruits to add to this signing class and this was a great way to start!"
