A year ago, the Mesa women's soccer team stunned Phoenix in the Region I, DII, semi-finals, winning, 2-1. Tuesday the Bears got their revenge in a season-opening, 8-0, win over MCC in a non-conference game game played at John D. Riggs Stadium.
PC, ranked No. 3 in the pre-season NJCAA poll, wasted no time taking control of the contest, scoring in the opening minute on a goal by Zalma Torres. By halftime Phoenix had built a 4-0 margin.
The T-Birds will be back in action Saturday, hosting Scottsdale, ranked 16th in the NJCAA pre-season poll, at 8:00 p.m. at John D. Riggs Stadium.
