Women's Golf crowned Region and Conference Champions after CGCC Invite

The Lady T-Birds were crowned the Region I and ACCAC champions after a runner-up finish at the Chandler-Gilbert Invite on Monday. 

Mesa finished 2nd at the CGCC Invite 323-307-630. Alyzzah Vakasiuola shot a season low (-6) 65 in the second round and finished runner-up for the event. Mary Tukuafu T-13th also shot a season low (+10) 81. Addison King and Raquel Pargas finished 7th and 10th respectfully. Chandler-Gilbert (628) won the last conference event. CGCC's Kaylin Johnson 70-67-137 won by 1 stroke over Vakasiuola.

With the runner-up finish, Mesa was crowned Region I and ACCAC champions for the season. Alyzzah Vakasiuola was named ACCAC Player of the Year and 1st Team All-Region and Conference. Freshman Addison King also earned 1st Team All-Region and Conference. Colorado Mesa University bound Raquel Pargas earned 2nd Team All-Region and Conference. The Lady T-Birds have won 21 of the last 23 Region and Conference championships.  

"I'm extremely proud of the progress this team has made throughout the year. We are trending the right way going into districts next week. These ladies deserve all their awards for the season," said head coach John Guerrero.

Next up for Mesa are the Southwest Districts on April 29-May 1. Seven of the top 15 teams in the country will be playing in the event. The 54 hole event will be played at Canyon West GC in Weatherford, TX.
