The Lady Thunderbirds find themselves leading after day 1 of the Pima CC Invitational.

Play was halted for a 2 hour delay due to lightning strikes as only 9 holes were completed in the first round. The tournament will now play as a 27 hole event with 18 holes remaining to be completed Wednesday.

Alyzzah Vakasiuola fired a -1 under par 35 and leads by 6 strokes. Mary Tukuafu shot a nine over par 45 and is in 9th place heading into the second round.

"This track is one of the toughest we will play all year," said head coach John Guerrero, "the weather delay made it worse and we gave a few coming in. Our focus needs more focus!"

Play resumes at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
