No. 6 MCC Women's Basketball takes on No. 4 CCBC Essex on Saturday afternoon in a fight for third place in the NJCAA DII Women's National Championship.

Mesa is coming off a 66-43 defeat at the hands of No. 2 Kirkwood on Friday which ended their national championship aspirations in the semi-final round. MCC struggled from the field shooting 30.2% from the floor while also struggling to take care of the ball, coughing it up 17 times resulting in 19 Eagles points.

CCBC Essex finds themselves fighting for third place after falling to No. 1 Johnson County on Friday, 59-54. The Knights competed well in each quarter except the second when they would put up a season low two points which dug a hole that was difficult to come out of.

The Knights would fight back to cut the lead to single digits in the fourth quarter but just weren't able to seal the deal as they fell to the Cavaliers.

This won't be the first meeting between the programs in the national tournament as CCBC Essex knocked out Mesa in the second round of the 2022 DII National Championship after beating the T-Birds, 72-50.

The game will tip-off at 5:00 p.m. CDT / 3:00 p.m. AZ time on the NJCAA Network.
