No. 6 Women's Basketball takes on No. 2 Kirkwood in NJCAA Semi-Finals on Friday night

No. 6 MCC Women's Basketball plays No. 2 Kirkwood in the NJCAA DII Women's Basketball National Championship Semi-Finals on Friday night.

The Lady T-Birds earned their right to play in the semi-final round after beating No. 11 SAU Tech in their opening matchup, 65-58 and upsetting No. 3 Rock Valley on Wednesday night in the quarterfinals, 80-70.

Sophomore guard Mackenzie Shivers had a big game in the victory on Wednesday as she had a season high 22 points while shooting 53% from the floor. Britany Kogbara had a career night as she had her second double-double of the tournament with an impressive 14 point 14 rebound outing.

The Kirkwood Eagles come into the semi-final round coming off an 88-78 victory over No. 7 Morton College. The Eagles controlled most of the contest until the fourth quarter when Morton would start the fourth quarter on a 14-4 run and cut the Eagle advantage to just four points.

Kirkwood would respond as Demetria Prewitt & Kaylee Corbin would score six straight to more or less put the game away. 

The game will tip-off at 8 p.m. CDT / 6:00 p.m. AZ time on the NJCAA Network.

The winner of the contest will take on the winner of the No. 1 Johnson County and No. 4 CCBC Essex matchup in the championship game on Saturday night.
