No. 6 MCC Women's Basketball goes to battle Wednesday night in the NJCAA DII Women's Basketball National Championship Quarterfinal against No. 3 Rock Valley College.

Mesa punched their ticket to the quarterfinals on Monday night after beating No. 11 SAU Tech, 65-58. After a back and forth first half MCC outscored the Rockets 25-11 in the period which helped them separate themselves from their competition.

Kamiyah Hurd had a career high 19 points (nine points in the third quarter), Jaida Brooks had 14, Mackenzie Shiver and Britany Kogbara had 10 a piece while Kogbara also grabbed a game high 12 rebounds.

An out of character stat for Mesa in their win was their carelessness with the ball, 10 turnovers in the first half and 11 in the second for the T-Birds. Luckily for Mesa SAU Tech converted 21 points off of those giveaways, depending on how one looks at it 21 points is a lot to give up off turnovers but the Rockets failed on many occasions to score off Mesa's mistakes.

No. 3 Rock Valley earned their right to play in the quarterfinals on Tuesday after they beat No. 14 Mid Michigan 78-54. The Golden Eagles had three players score in double figures including Maya Mitchell who had a game high 20.

Rock Valley is on a quest for a perfect season and are close to achieving just that as they currently sit with a perfect 34-0 record.

The Golden Eagles are led in scoring by Camron Blank who averages 14.1 PPG, Maya Mitchell who scores 12.1PPG, and Navaeh Hughes who puts up 10.6PPG.

The Rock Valley offense is one of the best in the country as they average 86.1 PPG which is the 5th most in the country.

The Lady T-Birds will play at 6 p.m. local time at Leggett & Platt Athletic Center in Joplin, MO. If Mesa wins they will take on the winner of No. 7 Morton and No. 2 Kirkwood Friday at 6 p.m. AZ time in the Semi-Finals. If Mesa loses on Wednesday they will move into the consolation bracket and play the loser of No. 4 CCBC Essex and No. 5 Iowa Western on Friday.
