Four Lady T-Birds earn Basketball postseason honors

The ACCAC announced their 2023-24 Women's Basketball postseason awards on Thursday morning and the Lady T-Birds were well represented.

MCC had four players earn honors with four All-ACCAC awards and three All-Region awards handed out respectively.

Jaida Brooks (All-ACCAC DII 1st Team and the All-Region DII 1st Team)

Brooks led Mesa in scoring (11.9 PPG), FG% (42.6%), three-point % (39.2%), and assists (4.1 APG).

Brooks has stepped up in big games for her team throughout the season, averaging 21.6 PPG against rival Pima and scoring a season high 26 points in their 77-71 victory over then ranked No. 5 Morton College.

Mackenzie Shivers (All-ACCAC DII 2nd Team and the All-Region DII 2nd Team)

Though Shivers has missed some games for Mesa she has made her impact felt on the court when she's dawned the MCC Red. Averaging 8.9 PPG to go along with 3.5 APG Shivers has been solid all season for Mesa. Shivers has shot 37.4% from the field and 35.6% from deep.

Shivers has been heating up in her last five games played as she has been in double figures scoring and has averaged 12.6 PPG.

Ashiian Hunter  (All-ACCAC DII 2nd Team and the All-Region DII 2nd Team)

Hunter has had a breakout freshman year for the Lady T-Birds, splitting time between a starter and providing a lift from the bench Hunter has averaged 11 PPG on 37.4% from the field and 33.1% shooting from downtown. 

Hunter has been solid for Mesa scoring at least 10 points in 16 of the 28 games played.

Miquedah Taliman (All-ACCAC DII 2nd Team)

Taliman has been an anchor for Mesa on both ends of the court all year. Her versatility and high basketball IQ helped MCC compete with the best of the best.

Taliman averaged 6.8 PPG on 33.5% shooting from the floor while grabbing 3.2 RPG. Taliman has made at least one three-pointer in the 23 of her 26 games played.
