MCC Basketball travels to South Mountain on Wednesday for ACCAC battles.

Women's Basketball:

No. 6 MCC Women's Basketball enters play on Wednesday with a 20-5 record (15-4 ACCAC). The Lady T-Birds have eclipsed the 20 win mark for the eighth time in ten seasons.

Mesa has won 4 of their last five games with their only loss coming against No. 12 Pima on Feb. 14. Playing away from the nest has been favorable for MCC as they are 6-2 on the road this year.

South Mountain comes into play on Wednesday holding a 1-22 record (1-17 ACCAC). The Cougars got their first victory on the year recently as they took down Phoenix College, 82-65 on Feb. 14.

This will be the third and final contest between the teams and the first played away from the nest for the Lady T-Birds. In the first contest back on Jan. 10 MCC won 84-44, Miquedah Taliman led all scorers as she scored a season high 16 points on 6-11 shooting from the field and 4-8 from distance.

In their second matchup on Jan. 27 Mesa cruised to a 90-47 victory and were led by Ashiian Hunter who scored 18 points on 9-18 shooting from the field.

 Men's Basketball:

MCC Men's Basketball comes in with a 7-17 record (5-13 ACCAC) and have won two of their last five games. Despite a career high 30 points and seven made three-pointers from Orlando Gonzales, Mesa fell to Glendale in their last contest, 90-80.

The loss does not necessarily knock the Thunderbirds out of the postseason, they will just need help from teams that play Glendale and Scottsdale down the stretch while taking care of their own business on the court.

The Cougars come into play on Wednesday with a 9-16 record (4-13 ACCAC) as they've won three of their last five contests. South Mountain had a big 68-66 win over Scottsdale on Jan. 31 and a dominant 102-79 victory over Phoenix College on Feb. 14.

This is the third and final contest between the two teams as they've split in both games that were played at MCC.

In the first game on Jan. 10 SMCC's strong second half powered them to a 76-61 victory as they were led by Parker Escalante who had a career high 25 points in the win.

In the rematch on Jan. 27 Mesa dominated both halves as they cruised to a 105-70 victory. MCC had five players in double figures as Mason Guiseppi led the way with a career high 28 points.

Both games will be played at South Mountain Community College, the women will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and the men will follow at 7:30 p.m.
