Mesa, AZ - The Thunderbirds women's basketball cruised by the Phoenix College Bears Saturday evening on Sophomore Night, 102-39.
The sophomore athletes that were honored were Mykah Anderson, Jasmine Belt, Nia Boston, Xavierre Garcia, Christabel Longe, and Love Troupe.
AnnMarie Batista broke the single-game school record for three-point field goals as she shot 11-14 from beyond the arc. The previous record was held by both Natashia Begaye and Courtney Weekley with eight.
Overall, the lady T-Birds shot 50% from three (16-32) and 54.2% overall (39-72). Mesa held the Bears to under 30% shooting and outrebounded them, 49-22.
With a 19-7 overall record and a 14-5 conference record, MCC is currently in first place in the ACCAC Div. II standings and owns the tiebreaker over second-place Pima.
The lady T-Birds will play on the road this week, first against Cochise on Wednesday, then against Scottsdale on Saturday.
