Mesa, AZ - The Mesa women's basketball team; who are currently receiving votes in the latest NJCAA DII Women's Basketball National Poll, will welcome the South Mountain Cougars to town on Wednesday evening. Tip time is slated for 5:30 pm inside of Theo Heap Gymnasium.
Wednesday's ACCAC battle features a pair of squads going in opposite directions. South Mountain enters the contest in last place in the ACCAC, with a record of 1-9, while going winless in conference play at 0-6. The Thunderbirds are winners of three straight and currently sport the best record in the ACCAC DII women's basketball standings, at 11-6 overall and 6-4 in conference play.
For the third straight week, Mesa claimed the ACCAC DII Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. Jayla Johnson won the award for her strong performance this past weekend at Cochise College. It was the second award for Johnson this season.
