Basketball teams host Scottsdale Saturday

  The first half of the ACCAC schedule concludes with a men's and women's basketball doubleheader against nearby rival Scottsdale Saturday afternoon.

  The women's contest begins at 2:00 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4:00. Both games can be watched, with Live Stats available, at the links below.

  In the women's battle, MCC now has a 9-6 record overall, and is 4-4 in ACCAC play following a 72-57 win at Glendale last Saturday. The T-Birds' game Wednesday at home against Phoenix was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols. Mesa is being led in scoring by ACCAC Athlete of the Week Jayla Johnson with a 13.7 scoring average. Mykah Anderson is scoring at an 11.3 rate.

  SCC arrives with a 9-4, 3-3 record and also had its most recent game, Wednesday against Glendale, postponed. The Artichokes are led by Halle Payne with a 14.0 scoring mark and Alayna Benevaides-Johnson at 10.3.

  The MCC men are 3-9, 1-6 and have had their two most recent games delayed by COVID. Those were with Glendale and Phoenix. The T-Birds are paced by B.J. Burries with a 13.1 scoring mark, while Quincy Reece is scoring at a 10.8 rate and Tampa Scott, IV, is at 10.5.

  Scottsdale, coming off a 72-69 win at Glendale Wednesday, has a 10-5, 4-3 record and boasts the conference's top two scorers, Unisa Turay, with a 19.2 scoring average and Carson Kelly at 18.8.
