Women's Basketball Ink Two for 2018-2019 Season

After claiming fourth place at the NJCAA DII National Tournament in March, the Mesa women's basketball team is quickly back at work preparing for another run at the national tourney.

Out of Sierra Linda High School in Phoenix, AZ, Raenesha Willis is a 5'6" point guard who played for head coach Desiree Carranza.  In her senior season, Willis averaged 10.8 points, 4.5 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 4.1 steals per game.  Willis led her team to the quarterfinals of the 5A state tournament in 2018.

Coming from just down the road at Mesa High School is 6'0" post player Eliza Heiney.  Heiney was coached by Katie Fonseca and will rejoin for Jackrabbit and current Mesa Thunderbird, Diamond Fuller.  In her senior season at Mesa, Heiney averaged 11.8 points and 10 rebounds per game.

"Both kids come from really good and supportive families and have played for high school programs whose coaches teach hard work and value effort and high character.  We are excited to welcome them into the Mesa family and we're looking forward to helping them improve and get better on the court, the weightroom, and the classroom," said Mesa Thunderbirds Head Women's Basketball Coach Kori Stephenson.
