Mesa, AZ - The first annual Mesa Classic came to an end Saturday night with the Mesa Thunderbirds beating North Idaho College, 72-43.
The T-Birds went 2-0 in the Classic, along with Cochise College, who defeated Trinidad earlier in the afternoon.
Quynne Huggins paced the T-Birds on the night with her fourth double-double on the season, scoring 17 points with 10 rebounds. Anessa Glenn also notched a double-double as she had 10 points with 12 rebounds.
It was a wire to wire victory for the T-Birds, as Mesa jumped out to a quick 8-0 advantage, forcing North Idaho to call a timeout a minute into the quarter. Mesa had a 36-21 advantage heading into halftime.
Mesa moves to 4-0 on the young season, as they play their first conference game next Tuesday night at South Mountain at 5:30 p.m.
