Six NJCAA qualifying marks topped at ACCAC track and field meet

  Mesa, AZ - The Mesa track and field teams hosted the ACCAC meet Friday at John D. Riggs Stadium and continued to improve their NJCAA qualifying spots.
  Four men and two women bettered the NJCAA standards during the new. 
   The meet was scored as a series of dual matches among the five competing teams. The MCC women defeated Paradise Valley, 90-54; Pima, 74-69 and Glendale, 86-42, but fell to Central Arizona, 119-52. Meanwhile, the T-Bird men beat Paradise Valley, 97-57; Pima, 102-65 and Glendale, 108-53, but lost to Central Arizona, 113-77.
  Trustant Stellmach added his name in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:47.74. 
  Marcus Naisant improved his standing in the javelin with a toss of 195-2. He ranked fourth in the nation entering the weekend.
  Colton Root tossed the hammer 159-11 but already had the fifth best mark in the country at 167-7.
  Noah Lovato equalled his qualifying standard in the pole vault with a jump of 14-7 1/4.
  For the women, Quinn Johnson improved her time in the 800 meters to 2:19.03 and Sadie Sweeney topped the hammer standard with a 161-10 throw but already has a 163-6 which ranks her third in the nation.
  MCC will compete in the Pima Outdoor Invitational Saturday in Tucson. Some athletes will also go to the Arizona State Sun Angel Invitational.
