Track & Field National Championships DAY 2 Results

LEVELLAND, Texas – Another big day, highlighted by three of the top six finishers in the decathlon, had the Mesa men's track and field team sitting in third place heading into the final day of competition.  

The T-Bird men have scored 32 points. Host South Plains has a huge lead with 74 points, Iowa Central has 51 and Iowa Western has scored 23.  

MCC's D'Angelo Foster took third place with 6366 points, Joshua Davis was fourth with 6025 and Xavier Johnson placed sixth with 5949.  

On the women's side Calla Reed took fourth place in the pole vault with a leap of 10-11 ¾.  

Meanwhile, the women's 4x800 relay team of Adeline Montgomery, Alexis Ramirez, Samantha Miller and Alyson Girard placed seventh with a 9:53.20 clocking in late action Tuesday.  

In addition, Girard qualified for Thursday's 1500 meters with the second best time, 4:49.63.  

Montgomery was 18 th in the prelim in 5:11.33.  

In other results for Mesa athletes:  

Hilary Ogutu was 11 th in the 10,000 meters in 43:12. 06.  Josh Hamberlin placed 12 th in the shot put at 47-3 1.2.  Ramirez missed qualifying in the 800 with a time of 2:25.99, placing 15 th .  

Miller was 10 th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a 12:06.24 clocking.  Hamberlin was tenth in the javelin at 170-9, while Clay Campbell was 27 th with a toss of 126-0.  

The women's 4x400 relay placed 15 th in the prelims at 4:04.62 but did not qualify for the finals.
