Softball earns second conference sweep of season against Gateway on Tuesday.

The softball team completed the sweep today against Gateway Community College.

In game one the T-Bird bats came alive as they had put up 14 runs in the first three innings. Justine Encinas went yard for MCC giving her three on the year. In five innings Mesa took the win, 17-1.

Game two was a much more quiet game offensively for the Lady T-Birds. The Geckos actually put up two runs in their half of the second inning but had batted out of order wiping those runs off the board. The MCC coaching staff was on it once they realized Gateway's mistake.

The score was deadlocked, 1-1 until the bottom of the 6th inning when MCC was able to get one across thanks to a sacrifice fly by Kylie Wilhelms. Gateway was able to get a runner on first in their half of the 7th with a single. They tried to steal second to put the running into scoring position but a great throw to second by Arrianna Chiago was in time and cleared the base paths for the T-Birds.

Mesa was able to finish the game on top, 2-1 improving their record to 14-8 (8-8 ACCAC).

The team will be back in action at home on Saturday as they host Paradise Valley in a double header. First game will begin at 12:00 p.m. with the second following at 2:00 p.m.
