16-2, 9-1 Finals for Mesa Softball Over NAU Club

Mesa, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds recorded another early season sweep when they defeated Northern Arizona University Club team Tuesday afternoon at MCC.

Both games were finished in five innings as the T-Birds run-ruled NAU 16-2 in game one and 9-1 in game two.

Mesa collected nine hits and took seven walks in game one while collecting a dozen more hits in game two to help the T-Birds collect its fourth run-rule game of the season.

Caitlyn Garcia went 4-6 on the day with five RBI's and two runs scored while Abril Nerey went 3-4 with three RBI's and two runs scored.

Sophomore pitcher, Kaycee Williams, won game one, pitching five innings, allowing three hits and two runs.  Taylor Brown won game two, throwing four innings, allwoing two hits and one run with Alyssa Matus finalizing the fifth inning with no hits and no runs.

Mesa moves to 4-0 on the season.  The T-Birds will play at home this Saturday against Benedictine University Mesa JV at noon and 2 pm.
