Coolidge, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds softball team dropped a double-header at Central Arizona Saturday afternoon, 9-1, 7-0. Although the T-Birds lost both games, they still earned the #2 spot in the ACCAC DII playoffs that begin next Friday morning at Phoenix College.
With help from a Pima sweep of South Mountain and a split between Gateway and Paradise Valley, Mesa stayed one game ahead to maintain the second spot.
At Central, it was a lone Tori Gonzalez home run in game one that was Mesa's only run of the day.
The T-Birds finish the season with a 24-31 overall record, 19-29 conference record. Mesa will play first on Friday morning at 9 am against the #3 seed. All games will be played at Phoenix College, the highest seed, on Friday and Saturday, May 5th and 6th.
