Six Athletes from Men's and Women's XC/T&F Sign with Four-Year Schools

Mesa, AZ - Six athletes from the Mesa Community College men's and women's cross country and track & field teams have signed with four-year schools to continue their academic and athletic careers.

Story Alexander, Clayton State University (GA) - Alexander earned All-ACCAC/All-Region Honors seven times and earned Honorable Mention All-American Honors at the 2022 NJCAA Cross Country Championships. She will be joining former MCC teammate Tanaeya Johnson at CSU and will receive an athletic scholarship. Clayton St. is an NCAA Div. II affiliated institution and is a member of the Peach Belt Conference. Mike Mead will be entering his 30th season as head coach of the Lakers men's and women's cross country teams.

Kate Brockman & Anna Harmon, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi - Both Brockman and Harmon have signed full-ride scholarships to Texas A&M-CC. Brockman was a 14-time All-American and a nine-time ACCAC/Region I individual champion while Harmon was a seven-time All-American and earned All-ACCAC/All-Region Honors five times. Both athletes finished as individual runner-ups at the NJCAA Cross Country Championships in back-to-back seasons (Brockman in 2021 and Harmon in 2022) and were a part of the distance medley relay squad that broke the school record at this past season's indoor national championship meet with a time of 12:12.32. The Islanders are an NCAA Div. I affiliated institution and a member of the Southland Conference.

Noah Clark, Arizona State University - Clark was a two-time All-American, first at 2022 Indoor Nationals in the 600-meter run and then at 2023 Outdoor Nationals as part of the 4x800m relay. Clark holds the indoor school record for 800m (1:53.45) and was the 2022 ACCAC individual champion in the 800m and earned All-ACCAC Honors the following season in the same event. ASU is an NCAA Div. I affiliated institution and is a member of the PAC-12 Conference. The Sun Devil's head track & field coach is Dion Miller.

Yotuel Garcia, Adams State University (CO) - Garcia has earned All-ACCAC/All-Region honors 13 times, seven of which were as the individual champion. He was also a four-time All-American that included winning the national title at the 2022 NJCAA Cross Country Championships. Garcia has his name all over the MCC record book as he holds school records in seven different events, ranging from the 1500m up to the 10,000m. ASU is an NCAA Div. II affiliated institutions and is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Grizzlies are coached by hall of famer Damon Martin, who has led the men's and women's cross country/track & field programs to win a combined 41 national championships. Garcia will also be receiving an athletic scholarship.

Masen Hofmann, Ottawa University (AZ) - Hofmann was a one-time All-Region honoree after finishing in eighth place at the 2021 Region I Cross Country Championships. He was also a part of the T-Bird's first conference team title in program history at the 2021 ACCAC Championships and represented MCC at the national championship meet that same season. OUAZ is an NAIA-affiliated institution and is a member of the Golden State Athletic Conference.
