Yotuel Garcia Earns Multiple Athlete of the Year Honors

New Orleans, La. - Yotuel Garcia of the Mesa Thunderbirds men's cross country team has been named both the NJCAA Div. II West District and National Athlete of the year.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the national awards on Wednesday and the district awards last Friday at the NJCAA Cross Country Awards Banquet.

Garcia earned both awards after winning the individual titles at both the NJCAA Region I, Div. II Championship and at the NJCAA Div. II National Championship.

This is the second straight year Garcia has been named the West District Athlete of the Year.
