Saginaw, Mich. - Assistant Coach Paul Spencer Peterson of the Mesa Thunderbirds men's and women's cross country and track & field teams will be inducted into his alma mater's athletic hall of fame on Friday.

Peterson attended Saginaw Valley State University from 1978-1983 and was a six-time All-American (NCAA Div. II and NAIA Div. I) on the Cardinals men's track & field team.

Peterson was part of the 1978 cross country and 1983 indoor track & field teams that were also inducted into the SVSU Hall of Fame in 2013 and 2018, but this is the first time he will be inducted as an individual.

"On behalf of the MCC Athletic Department, I would like to congratulate Coach Peterson on this incredible honor," said Athletic Director John Mulhern. "We are very fortunate and thankful to have someone like Spencer helping our student-athletes reach their goals and helping build the success of our programs."
