Scottsdale, Ariz. - The Thunderbirds men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Puma Invitational on Friday morning.
Paradise Valley CC hosted the meet and Phoenix College also competed.
The men's team finished second overall with 35 points. Yotuel Garcia won his second race in a row with a 20:50 effort on the 4-mile course. Javier Garcia (7th - 21:49), Connor King (8th - 21:53), Yael Caballero Ferro (9th - 22:06), and Greyson Akers (10th - 22:14) also scored for the T-Birds.
Paradise Valley won the men's race, scoring 20 points, and Phoenix was third with 85 points.
The lady T-Birds won by default as both the Pumas and the Bears did not have enough runners to score as a team in the women's race.
Kate Brockman won her second race in a row with an 18:45 performance on the 3-mile course. Taylor Jacobs (2nd - 19:40), Anna Harmon (4th - 19:56), and MaKena Thornton (5th - 20:46) all finished within the top five as well.
The T-Birds will take next weekend off as they prepare to host the Mesa College Jamboree on October 1st.
