Mesa competes at ACCAC Meet

Mesa, Ariz. – The track & field team hosted the ACCAC Championships on Friday evening, with the men and women having six event winners and nine runner-up places combined. Mesa had several athletes who either hit a qualifying mark in a new event, or improved on their qualifying mark.

On the men's side, Jacob Samford placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.02 seconds and earned him his first qualifying mark of the season. Caden Resendez won the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:19.28, which also earned him his second national qualifying mark. Nathan Mann placed second with a time of 15:57.88. Desmond Lott won the discuss throw and improved his national qualifying mark with a throw of 46.97 meters (154 feet, 1 inch).

On the women's side, Ellis Collins won the 5000-meter run and improved her national qualifying mark to 18:39. Mary Siml placed second with a time of 19:08.63. Julianna Perez placed second in the discus throw with a mark of 40.49 meters (132 feet, 10 inches), which earned her her first qualifying mark of the season.

The T-birds travel to Glendale CC on Saturday, April 10th, to compete in the Gaucho Invite.
