Men's tennis jumps to No. 5 in ITA poll

MESA, AZ - The Mesa men's tennis team, which is having one of its best season's ever, has jumped to No. 5 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national poll.
The T-Birds have completed their regular season with a 13-3 record and are unbeaten against two-year opponents. Their only losses have come against NCAA Division I Idaho State and Division II Western New Mexico and Point Loma Nazarene.
In ACCAC play MCC breezed through with a perfect 6-0 record and has not even lost a single set.
Along with their conference mark, the Thunderbirds have beaten several strong two-year opponents. They shut out College of the Desert, ranked No. 2 in Southern California. In four-year opponent matches they defeated NCAA Division I Portland State as well as Division II Colorado State-Pueblo and NAIA Hastings (Neb.).
The T-Birds will play in the Region I championship April 27-28 at Glendale.
