The No. 14 MCC Men's Soccer team fell to No. 4 Phoenix College on Wednesday in the Region I Semi-Finals, 5-1.

Mesa held their own against the Bears for most of the first half, keeping them out of the net up until the 40th minute when PC scored on a penalty kick. Just two minutes later the Bears would find the back of the net again to give themselves a 2-0 advantage going into the halftime break.

Playing from behind in the second half is not something MCC isnt used to as in five matches this season the Thunderbirds had to make a comeback in the final 90 minutes. 

The Bears continued to display their offensive firepower with a goal in the 55th, 57th, and 79th minute to take a commanding 5-0 lead. 

Mesa sophomore Gabriel Gutierrez Alapizco was able to find the back of the net in the 85th minute to get MCC on the board and prevent a shutout.
