The No. 7 men's soccer team was able to stay hot Tuesday night as their strong second half propelled them over Chandler-Gilbert, 4-1.

Offensively the Thunderbirds were able to heat up against the Coyotes as they were able to score four or more goals for the fourth time this season. Defensively they were also able to execute as they only allowed three shots on goal while giving up just a lone goal.

The scoring got started later in the first half as Brevin Dorsey found the back of the net off a Tony Perez assist in the 33rd minute. Then in the second half the Coyotes were able to tie the game up in the 54th minute.

Mesa's offense came alive shortly after as Adnan Elqad scored in the 72nd minute thanks to an assist from Josh Rodriguez. In the 76th minute Mark Gomez scored off a penalty kick, and to put the game completely out of reach Josh Rodriguez found the back of the net in the 87nd minute.

The Thunderbirds record improves to 11-3-1 overall, with a conference record of 6-2-1. The team is currently in the third spot when it comes to playoff seeding behind the first seeded Phoenix and second seeded Pima. Mesa can't fall lower than the third seed even if they drop their final game against Gateway. If they do defeat Gateway on Thursday, the Thunderbirds can jump into the number two seed and host a playoff game in the semi-final matchup next Tuesday.

Mesa will take on Gateway at home Thursday at 4:30 P.M. in their final regular season game of the season.
