Hardman tied for second after first day of NJCAA men's golf nationals

  Foley, Ala – Austin Hardman stood in an eight-way tie for second place after the first round of the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship Monday.

  Hardman, one of three T-Birds competing as individuals in the national event, posted a one-under-par 71 over the Glen Lakes G.C. layout. Jake Guess is tied for 44th with a 75 and Ryan Porter is tied for 72nd place following a 79.

  Hardman was actually in the lead for a while until a double-bogey on the 464-yard par four seventh hole. That was actually his 16th after beginning his round on the tenth hole. He had three birdies and 12 pars over the first 15 holes before slipping on the seventh hole.

  Hardman was named a second-team All-American Sunday at a banquet prior to the tournament.

  The four-day event continues through Thursday.
